Arthur Miller Reorbits in Social Media Theater

As many of you know, I will be directing Arthur Miller’s Memory of Two Mondays this spring at The Ruskin Group Theatre. As a sort of twist on the traditional director’s prep, I will be twittering as Mr Miller for a social media theater group called Reorbit.

Reorbit is a cutting-edge project that merges historical figures and modern technology to create a new set of online plays. Each play is performed in 140 character bits by authors taking on a persona of their choosing as they go about their daily lives and misadventures.

In my Reborit twitter posts as Arthur Miller, we see him fleeing from the growing Disneyfication of New York City and trading it all for a simple life of beach bum-ism. Yes, the greatest American tragedist of our time will be learning to surf in Venice Beach.

The inspiration for these posts will parallel my own experience leaving San Francisco for Los Angeles. My culture shock will have a wonderful outlet as his culture shock. Additionally, (spoiler alert!) he will decide to direct the very same play I am directing at, where else, the Ruskin Group Theatre!
