AMELIAMADE

what I am working on, thinking on, and lusting after
I could not agree more. Ever the pragmatist, my first post college lifestyle attempt was to be an actress and have a day job in the fine are world. I worked in a LA galleries, many that represented his contemporaries- Space Invader, Shepard Fairey, Fafi (rest in peace Sixspace and rock on LACE).

I remember thing and feeling that a distinct lack of dynamism in the people I met in art scene. Not that everyone was a bore, but I guess I expected to be more impressed by there personalities. In my other scene, the acting/filmmaking one, the talented people really had a wow-factor- well spoken, opinionated, they were magnetic. I found the successful people in the art scene to interpersonally inept- boring even. I guess judge people based on there cocktail party conversations- how Auntie Mame of me.

Anyway, around 27, I moved to SF and started meeting Ad agency people. I was blown away- so interesting , challenging, adept…. BUT spending there brilliance working (and being paid well btw) on art for Cheetos, Chevy, Kaiser, etc ACK ! I am still fascinated and horrified by this, as is apparently, Banksy.
